Gauhati University PG Admission 2021: 

Gauhati University has released the official notification for Gauhati University PG Admission 2021 process. Accordingly, Gauhati University has launched its online Post Graduation (PG) admission form fill up portal where aspiring and eligible candidates will be able to fill online application form for Post Graduate courses in Arts (MA), Science (MSc) and Commerce (MCom).

Name of university: Gauhati University

Courses: MA, MCom & MSc courses

Academic session: 2020-21

Date of entrance test: 15th - 17th September 2021

Eligibility Criteria for GU PG Admission: 

Here is the eligibility criteria for admission into various post graduate courses under Gauhati University.

MA and MSc Courses:

- B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with Major/honours courses in the concerned subject or
- B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with a general pass course with at least 45% Marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

M.Com Course:

- B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with Major/honours courses in the concerned subject or
- B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with a general pass course with at least 45% Marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

- 45% Marks is to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in Part I and Part II of the (2+1) pattern and part I, part II and Part III of the (1+1+1) pattern .

GU PG Common Entrance Test:

There will be a Common Entrance Test for admission into different Post Graduate Courses to be conducted by Gauhati University (both for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University) for the session 2021-22. Admissions will be based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the Entrance Examination. 

The Offline Entrance Test will be conducted in the month of September 2021.

 

However, last year, the admission was made based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the respective qualifying examination. No Common Entrance Test was held for the session 2020-21. 

Entrance Schedule for GU PG Admission:

 

Gauhati University has declared the schedule of GU Common Entrance Test for the selection of students for admission into various courses as mentioned below.

Reservation: 

 

Reservation of Seats for GU PG Courses are as under-

# Scheduled Caste: 7%
# Scheduled Tribes (Plains): 10%
# Scheduled Tribes (Hill): 5%
# OBC & MOBC: 15%
# Differently Abled: 3% (for each Discipline of Faculty)
# Sons and daughters of permanent GU Employees: 1 Seat in each dept with intake capacity 40 or less and 2 seats when the intake is more than 40 students.
# Fringe Village: 10 seats
# GU Ex-Employees: 5 seats
# Ex- Defense: As per EC resolution
# Moran Community of Assam: 2 seats.
# Extra Curricular: 1 seat in each department.
# NCC & NSS: 5 seats.
# Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% Reservation from unreserved category in each subject.

# In Admission into the Traditional Program of Study, 80% of total intake will be reserved for Gauhati University Students. The remaining 20% will be reserved for other than Gauhati University Students.

# As per Executive Council resolution No. WEC-02/2020/13 dated 25.01.2020 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) i.e. 10% from the unreserved category will be reserved into the different Post Graduate Courses for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University.

Gauhati University PG Admission Fee: 

Last year, all fees relating to admission into different Post Graduate Courses of University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of Gauhati University for the session 2020-21 has been waived in accordance with notification No.AHE.639/2018/16 dated 10th June, 2020 from Higher Education Department, Govt. of Assam. 

However, there is no such provision this year; that means this year candidates have to pay a certain amount as an admission fee depending up on his course/s or other criteria.

Application Fee of GU PG Admission 2021:

Application fee for Gauhati University PG Admission is Rs. 400/- . In addition to that the candidate has to pay examination fee .
