It is for general information that the Government of Assam, in provision of Section 23 of the RTE Act - 2009 has decided to conduct the Special 6th Schedule Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2023 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level for the 6th Schedule area districts of Assam as per the guidelines laid down by NCTE and thereby on-line applications are invited from the candidates having permanent residence in the 6th Schedule area district of Assam who intend to appear in Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper II (Upper Primary) of Special 6th Schedule TET-2023.

Duration of exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes for each Paper. An additional 20 minutes time (per hour) will be there for visually impaired candidates.

Qualifying marks: A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ ST (Plain)/ OBC/MOBC/ PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5%. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55%.

Other Instruction for 6th Schedule LP & UP TET 2023:
1. It is for General information that considering the availability of category wise vacant posts of teachers in Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools in the 6th Schedule districts viz Baksa, Chirang, Dima-Hasao, Kokrajhar, Karbi-Anglong, West Karbi-Anglong and Udalguri, application are invited for 6th Schedule TET.
2. The qualified candidates of the 6th Schedule TET will be eligible to participate in the recruitment process for the post of elementary teachers of schools located in the 6th Schedule area provided they have other academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms.
Other Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria of a candidate to appear in the Special 6th Schedule TET are as follows:
A. Candidate must be a permanent resident of the 6th Schedule area districts.
B. Candidate must have minimum academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms as follows:
Minimum Qualification for appearing in Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V):
a) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR
Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) obtained from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in class I to V, provided the person so appointed as teacher will have to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.
b) However, a candidate who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.
Remark: Candidate admitted into2 year D.El.Ed program before 31st August 2009: Please refer to Clause B under subheading Relaxation.
Minimum Qualification for appearing in Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII):
a) Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post Graduation and B. Ed
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./ B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B. Ed. (Special Education)
Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those in cumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to the 29th July, 2011.
b) However, a person who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year Examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.
Remark: Candidate those who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. program before 31st August 2009 please refer to Clause C under subheading Relaxation.
Relaxation: Following relaxation will be applicable
A. Relaxation up to 5% in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation shall be applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) to appear in TET (The degree of handicap in case of PH candidates should be minimum 40% and to be certified by the competent authority) both for Paper-I (LP Level) and Paper-II (UP Level).
B. For Paper-I (LP Level) relaxation up to 5% in HSSLC marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 2-Year D.El.Ed before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 2-Year D.El.Ed subsequently.
C. For Paper-II (UP Level) relaxation up to 5% in Graduation marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 1-Year B.Ed. subsequently.
3. STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF TET, ASSAM:
Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Lower Primary level (classes I to V)
Paper I (for classes I to V):

* All (150) questions will be of MCQ type; each question will carry 1 mark. Total
marks will be 150
Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Upper Primary level
(classes VI to VIII).
Paper II -Mathematics & Science or Paper II- Social Science (Studies) (for class VI to VIII):
Structure and Content:
* All (150) questions will be of MCQ type; each question will carry 1 mark. Total marks will be 150.
4. Duration of examination : 2½ hours (150 Minutes) for Paper-I and 2 ½ hours (150 Minutes) for Paper II. Additional 20 minutes' time (per hour) will be there for visually impaired candidates.
5. Minimum Marks for qualifying in TET : A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers' Eligibility Test(TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ST (Plain)/OBC/MOBC/PWD (PH), there will be relaxation of 5 %. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e.55 %.
6. There will be no negative marking.
7. Medium of question paper: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, English
8. Syllabus : The syllabus for Paper- I & Paper II will be available in the website http://www.ssa.assam.gov.in
9. Center District of Examination : To be selected by candidate at the time of submission of online application for appearing in Special 6th Schedule TET.
Candidate will have to select one Centre only.
10. Validity : The TET qualifying certificate for appointment, unless otherwise notified by the appropriate Government, would remain valid for life from the date of issue of the certificate by the Empowered Committee, TET, Govt. of Assam.

# Read carefully the Instruction Manual on how to submit the online application form.
# Submit Online Application and upload recent Passport size colour Photograph, Signature, Pass Certificate of Professional Qualification, Final Year admit card of ongoing professional course (in case of candidates pursuing professional qualification) of recommended size (as mentioned in Instruction Manual).
# The candidate has to pay the fee through online banking/credit card/ debit card etc. he/she can take print out of the Online Application form.

IMPORTANT POINTS:
i. The Test will be for Paper-I (Lower Primary) and Paper -II (Upper Primary) as per the syllabus uploaded on the website of SSA, Assam.
ii. Candidates who intend to appear in both the papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II will have to pay the fee for both the papers separately and will have to submit Online Application accordingly.
iii. Candidates must pay the examination fee through online mode only.
iv. Fee once paid will not be refunded.
v. Appearing/qualifying in Teacher Eligibility Test will not confer the right to claim for appointment/engagement for any post of teacher. Teacher recruitment in government or private schools will be a separate process as and when vacancy arises.
vi. TET is only one of the qualifying criteria for applying for Teacher recruitment in elementary level schools. The qualified candidates of the 6th Schedule TET will be able to participate in the recruitment process of teachers only in the 6th Schedule area district as per norms.
vii. There will be no verification of documents in support of qualification etc. of candidates while appearing in TET. However, documents of a TET qualified candidate will be verified during the time of teacher engagement process by the concerned authority. In case of submission of false information/claim regarding qualification etc, he/she will be criminally liable.
viii. Examination will be conducted in different Centre District as mentioned in point No. 9 i.e. Centre District of Examination and candidate must mention his/her option for the District in the online application form.
ix. Incomplete form will be summarily rejected. Candidate must be very careful while submitting the online application form. Claims for correction will not be entertained.
x. Before filling up of on-line application, the candidate has to go through the Instruction Manual for online application. xi. Candidates pursuing teacher education course will have to upload Admit Card of final year examination.

Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) Details:
The Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Government of Assam for candidates who aspire to become teachers in government schools in Assam. The TET exam is conducted in two papers, namely, Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach classes I to V, while Paper 2 is for candidates who want to teach classes VI to VIII. The TET exam is conducted by the Secondary Education Department of Assam, and the exam pattern and syllabus are determined by the Department.
The eligibility criteria for the Assam TET exam vary for each paper. Generally, candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks in their Senior Secondary (or equivalent) examination, along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education degree for Paper 1.
